What is an invisible empty character?

An invisible empty character is a Unicode character that takes up space when displayed but appears as nothing. The most common is the Braille Pattern Blank character (U+2800), which is the basis of the Braille writing system but renders as a blank, invisible glyph in most fonts.

Why use invisible characters?

  • WhatsApp / Telegram: Send a “blank” message when no text is allowed
  • Instagram / TikTok bios: Create line breaks where they’re normally not allowed
  • Discord usernames: Make a name that appears as just a profile icon
  • Game usernames: Some games allow this for “no name” effects

How to use this tool

  1. Click the Copy button at the top right of the empty box
  2. The invisible character is copied to your clipboard
  3. Paste anywhere with Ctrl+V (Windows) or Cmd+V (Mac)

Note: Some platforms strip these characters automatically. If pasting doesn’t seem to work, try a different platform.
