Base64 to Image — Decode Base64 and Data URIs Back to Images
Paste a Base64 string or a full data URI and instantly turn it back into a viewable, downloadable image. This is the reverse of encoding an image to Base64 — perfect for inspecting data URIs found in CSS, HTML, or API responses.
What it accepts
- Full data URI: strings starting with
data:image/png;base64,— the type is detected automatically - Raw Base64: just the encoded part, without the
data:prefix — pick the image type from the dropdown - With or without whitespace: line breaks and spaces inside the Base64 are handled
What you get
- Live preview of the decoded image on a checkerboard background (so transparency is visible)
- Image details: MIME type, pixel dimensions, and file size
- Download button to save the image with the correct file extension
Common uses
- Inspecting a data URI you found in a stylesheet or HTML file
- Recovering an image that was embedded as Base64 in JSON or an API response
- Checking what a Base64 blob actually contains before using it
- Converting an inline icon back to a real image file
