Check instantly whether any word, phrase or sentence is a palindrome. Ignore case, spaces and punctuation with a single click.

Palindrome Checker

A palindrome reads the same forwards and backwards. This tool checks any word, phrase, or sentence and lets you control whether spaces, punctuation, and letter case should be ignored before comparing.

Famous palindromes

  • Words: racecar, level, madam, refer, civic, radar, noon
  • Phrases: “A man, a plan, a canal: Panama” — “Was it a car or a cat I saw?” — “Never odd or even”
  • Numbers: 121, 1331, 12321

How the options work

  • Ignore case: treats “Madam” and “madam” as identical — recommended for most checks.
  • Ignore spaces: removes all whitespace before comparing, so “race car” equals “racecar”.
  • Ignore punctuation: strips commas, apostrophes, colons etc., enabling phrase palindromes to be detected correctly.

Palindromes in programming

Palindrome detection is one of the most common coding interview questions. The naive approach reverses the string and compares — O(n) time and space. A two-pointer approach achieves O(n) time with O(1) space by comparing the first and last characters inward.
