EXIF Viewer & Remover — See and Strip Photo Metadata
View hidden EXIF metadata in your photos (camera, date, GPS location) and remove it for privacy. 100% in your browser — your images never leave your device.
EXIF Viewer & Remover — Protect Your Privacy
Every photo you take stores hidden metadata called EXIF — including the camera model, the exact date and time, camera settings, and often the GPS coordinates of where the photo was taken. This tool shows you exactly what’s hidden in your image, and lets you download a clean copy with all metadata removed.
Why EXIF metadata matters
- Privacy risk: GPS coordinates reveal your home, workplace, or current location
- Personal info: camera owner name, timestamps, and device details can identify you
- Before sharing: social networks usually strip EXIF, but files sent by email, messaging, or uploaded to many sites keep it
What this tool shows
- Camera info: make, model, lens, software
- Capture settings: exposure, aperture (F number), ISO, focal length
- Timestamps: when the photo was taken and digitized
- GPS location: latitude, longitude, altitude (highlighted in orange as a privacy warning)
- Author info: artist, copyright, camera owner
How removal works
When you click “Download clean copy”, the tool redraws your image onto an HTML canvas and re-encodes it as a fresh JPEG. Because canvas re-encoding starts from raw pixels, all EXIF metadata is dropped — the visual image is identical, but the hidden data is gone.
Privacy
This is the most important part: your photo never leaves your device. All reading and cleaning happens locally in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing is uploaded to any server — which is exactly what you want from a privacy tool.
Note on file types
EXIF metadata is mainly found in JPEG files (from cameras and phones). PNG and WebP files typically don’t carry EXIF, so this tool will report them as already clean.
