SERP Snippet Preview — See Exactly How Your Page Looks on Google

Preview how your title tag, meta description, and URL will appear in Google search results — for both desktop and mobile devices — before you publish. The tool uses pixel-accurate measurement to show you exactly when Google will truncate your title or description with an ellipsis. Includes an “Auto-fill title from URL” button that turns slugs like my-blog-post-name into proper titles like My Blog Post Name instantly.

How to use

  1. Paste your page URL in the URL field (e.g. https://yoursite.com/your-page-name/)
  2. Click “Auto-fill title from URL” to generate a title from your slug, or type your own title manually
  3. Write your meta description (1–2 compelling sentences)
  4. Toggle Desktop / Mobile to see both versions
  5. Watch the pixel meters: green = ideal length, amber = could be longer, red = will be truncated

Why pixels, not characters?

Google measures truncation in pixels, not character count. A title with lots of “i” and “l” characters fits more than one with many “W” and “M”. Standard rules of thumb (50–60 characters for titles, 150–160 for descriptions) are approximations. This tool measures each character’s actual rendered width using your browser’s font metrics — the same way Google does on its results page.

Pixel limits (approximate, as of 2024)

  • Desktop title: 580 px (~50–60 characters in Arial)
  • Desktop description: 990 px (~155–160 characters)
  • Mobile title: 470 px (~40–45 characters)
  • Mobile description: 980 px (~130–140 characters)

Auto-fill title from URL

If your URL is https://netpasse.com/enregistrement-appels-whatsapp/, clicking “Auto-fill title from URL” will instantly fill the title field with Enregistrement Appels Whatsapp. You can then edit it. The tool:

  • Takes the last path segment of your URL
  • Strips the file extension (.html, .php, etc.)
  • Replaces hyphens and underscores with spaces
  • Capitalizes each word
  • Decodes URL encoding (e.g. %20 → space)

SEO best practices

  • Title: include your primary keyword early, brand name at the end after a separator (— or |)
  • Description: action-oriented, include keywords naturally, end with a call to action if relevant
  • URL: short, hyphen-separated, descriptive (the slug itself is a ranking signal)
  • Don’t stuff keywords — Google may rewrite your title if it looks spammy
